Captain America

Because Chuang asked for it, here it is. Did not do a full body because drawing Cap's shield is very hard. Even though he is my all time favorite, that shield is very intimidating with all those circles. No drawing this week for Illustration Friday. The subject "fat" is uninspiring to me.

Cap was never my fave (I'm a Spidey guy) but that looks good. Hey, did you ever check out the comics at Oink and Demoniod?

Not yet Joe. I like Spidey, too, but Cap is still the best!

Good job, Tim.

Why not use drafting templates for things like the shield? You can get them in several different styles - Full circles and also different size ellipses for angled views. Or is that considered cheating? I mean, I'm pretty sure illustrators would use them, no?

I would not consider that cheating, but I don't have any to work with now. Although I started out drawing superheroes, I really have moved away from that and don't think my style really works as good for that. I enjoy military themes and just capturing everyday subject matter more.

I am ..........BATMAN!
Well, the poor version.

No actually my favorite hero is the Robert De Niro character in the movie "Brazil". An armed maintenance technician zip-lining to his HVAC calls.......That would be awesome.
It's a must see for all Monty Python fans.

What would Cap say about Bush Co?
I'm going to blog roll you Cap :)

MScott-Captain America is no fan of W! There is a new comics series out where the govt. wants all superheroes to disclose their secret identities to law enforcement. This ignites a civil war between the followers of Iron Man (pro-registration) and Cap (against). Life imitates art. Personally I am no fan of W either. If we are stupid enough not to get rid of as many Republican'ts as possible this year, and not elect one in 2008 to be president, I don't know what kind of shape we'll be in in the next ten years.

P.S. I'll blogroll you, too!

Great one! Especially the use of the shadow on the forehead. Highly effective use of shadow.

Come to think of it, this Captain America seems 'young-ish'.
