Why Obama is not a Nazi (but maybe Jackie Robinson)

I love the new Doonsbury Cartoon. I concisely presents the argument against the rabid Right. It also expresses the frustration the Left has about Obama not having "a pair" and not "hitting back" when the Right constantly fights every move he makes. I must admit that, to paraphrase Bill Maher, like Muhammad Ali, Obama has a way with words. What really made Ali effective though, is that he also knew how to punch somebody in the face! I was speaking with a friend recently who I thought was onto something when he compared Obama to Jackie Robinson. Robinson also was urged to fight back when he was slighted by white players who attacked and disrespected him. Basically saying that, "If I respond that way, it closes the door for the next black player because they'll use that combativeness as excuse to keep others out". I don't know if this is a good strategy or not. I guess we'll find out down the line. Is Obama "running the bases first" and "getting a little dirt on my uniform" so that the next guy will have it easier? What do you think?

I'm glad to hear we're making you so nervous, Tim.

We're not rabid, we're committed to saving our nation.

Not nervous, just annoyed. Sounds more like you are committed to bringing this man down even if it hurts the country in the process.

Might be a good point Tim.

Thanks for stopping by my neck of the woods.

How did you find me?

Surfing a rapid rightwinger's incoherent blog and saw your thoughtful reply. Laughed at how he railed against you putting words in his mouth when you did no such thing.
BTW- my aunt used to be a missionary in Mexico before she retired. Been there once myself.

i think it was. They speak like they actually have something intelligent to say, and when you gently disagree they start in with the namecalling and accusations. Really I am entertained by their foolishness.

Carol- There are obviously too many cartoons in your link to comment on every one. I'll take a couple.
Afgahnistan- Obama has already sent 21,000 additional troops. I agree more are needed. However we do need to reasess our objectives there. i believe that it may be impossible or at least not needed to completely occupy every square inch with troops unless we sent in several hundred thousand. Why are we still dealing with it 8 years later? Because the previous occupant of the White House sent the bulk of our forces to the wrong country. Yet another left over mess on a long list.
China- They will eventually supplant us is the pre-eminent world power within the next fifty years. There are more english speakers in China than in America. They graduate more engineers from college than we graduate all degreed graduates. While me are producing money shuffling accountants and MBA's they are graduating people who can actually design things. If you were a smart investor, you would have at least one China mutual fund. Mine has restored all of my IRA losses from last years crash and I have actually grown my portfolio by roughly %10 over the last two years. I'll take 5% a year when others have taken a major it. Mandarin is the most used language on the internet. The Shanghai Auto Show has supplanted the Tokyo auto show as the pre-eminent auto show in the world, and the CHinese auto market has surpassed the American car market in units sold per year, making it the largest in the world. There are a hundred other ways that I could explain to you how they are eating our lunch. They have moved more people from poverty into the middle class in the last twenty years than nearly the entire population of America. Roughly 1.5 million (the pop. of Philidelphia) each month on avg. over this period of time. We cannot ignore this country. To disengage economically will only be hurting ourselves.

If your concern is truly for the Best of America, please support the man who has been elected. Calling him a Nazi, Communist, Muslim, etc. insults my intelligence and smacks of being a sore loser. The election is over.
